Well November is here, and with that means the start of another cherished season in Oak Island … Beach Bonfire Season.
NOTICE: The Beach Bonfire Permit Applications will OPEN on Thursday, November 13, 2025 for the 2025 / 2026 Season. Bonfires will be permitted starting on Sunday, November 16, following the end of Sea Turtle Nesting Season.
Many area beach towns do not permit bonfires on the beach, however, Oak Island still allows them – but you’ll need to get a (free) permit!
So gather your tribe and some dry firewood and have fun with friends and family.
Bonfires are allowed on Oak Island between November 16th to April, and the permits are free. Permits can be obtained from the local fire department.
Just bear in mind that you must apply for a permit within 72 hours of your planned beach fire on Oak Island.
You can learn more about the permits and take a look at frequently asked questions on the Town of Oak Island’s website here.
