Celebrate the Town of Oak Island’s birthday on July 1st with a fantastic fireworks display off of the Oak Island Pier. This free community opportunity encourages viewer to observe social distancing guidelines and to take personal safety precautions through the use of personal protective equipment.
The fireworks display will be on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020 at approximately 9 pm, weather permitting.
Due to COVID-19, the Town would like to remind everyone that the fireworks can be seen over the ocean along much of the beachfront — you do not have to be near the Oak Island Pier to see them. Please continue to follow all CDC guidelines – practice social distancing, keep groups to fewer than 10 people, and please wear a mask.
Parking is available in Town parking lots and on street rights-of-way (make sure tires are off the pavement so traffic is not blocked). Please watch for pedestrians.
After the fireworks, the Oak Island Police Department will help direct traffic on Oak Island Drive and Country Club Drive, Long Beach Road, and Fish Factory/Airport Road. Officers will monitor and assist those leaving the island after the fireworks.
Everyone is asked to have patience and work with each other after enjoying the Town’s celebration. We may have larger crowds than usual, so please understand it may take a while for traffic to clear. We want everyone to stay safe and enjoy the Town’s celebration!
