Oak Island NC has dodged the bullet with little more than some thunder-boomers and rain!
The latest hurricane advisory from 8:00am this morning shows that Hurricane Joaquin is expected to follow a path well out into the mid Atlantic far from the US Coast.
We are all very thankful to be delivered from what might have been a Category 4 Hurricane hitting our coast!
Category 4 Hurricane to hit our coast was Hurricane Hazel which was the deadliest and costliest hurricane of the 1954 Atlantic hurricane season. The storm killed at least 400 people in Haiti before striking the United States near the border between North and South Carolina, as a Category 4 hurricane.
The forecast for our island and are is for more rain and thunderstorms through Tuesday with Sunshine returning on Tuesday!
Our hearts go out to all the people who have suffered from Joaquin including those along the SC coast and inland all the way to Greenville SC where they are experiencing record rains and flash flooding.
